HABITS OF THE WEALTHY: Temi Shodipo

There are quite a number of habits of the wealthy, from surrounding themselves with like-minded people to always aiming high and planning with the next generation in mind. Today we discuss a few. Remember, our aim is to get this mindset of wealth, our first step to living out our wealth.

The wealthy always strive for education: This doesn’t necessarily translate to bagging Masters Degrees and Doctorates, I mean the education of the mind. In fact, a wealthy person would rather be educated than entertained. Even a rich rascal would try to learn something new whenever possible, this is so because no wealthy man wants to lose is wealth out of ignorance, therefore every wealthy man tries to know a little about everything, as much as possible. This is also easily noticeable in the insistence of the wealthy on ensuring the very best education for their kids. Indeed, an interesting statistic says that the wealthiest 20% of families have a 55% chance of staying in that bracket – who’d want to pass up the chance of being an elite for life?

Frugal and Prudent Lifestyle: Are you aware that the most materialistic people are actually the least wealthy? That might seem like a contradictory statement, but it doesn’t make it any less true. He has grown his wealth through some denials, frugal saving at some point, this has led him to be prudent. A wealthy person who watched his wealth grow from his determination and hardwork is most unlikely to spend that hard earned cash in an unwise manner. Never be fooled by the propaganda depicted on television about the wastefulness of the wealthy, it’s not true.

The Place of passion: Oprah Winfrey said – you’ve got to follow your passion and do what you love. Rich people find a way of getting paid for doing something they love, this isn’t the same of the ordinary average person out there. Of course we envy the footballers and the ridiculous paychecks they get weekly. But have you ever sat down to find your own talent? Believe this, God placed one thing in you that you do better than any one around you, and this applies to everyone.

Persistence and Determination: You’ll hardly find any wealthy person who doesn’t possess these two attributes. Its like a basic genome in the DNA of a wealthy man. This is because the truly wealthy never thinks of what to glean from others. He’s got an entrepreneurial mind, and setting up your own name endures a lot of criticism. Persistence and determination are key in this respect.

Getting OPM: This is an acronym for Other People’s Money. Well, that’s how you accumulate wealth.
$10 from100,000 people, from a planet of 6 Billion people is all you need to be a millionaire in dollars. (…let that sink in).
Whats the next question then? What service can I offer my world…applying the principles I have just learnt.

Giving: This is perhaps the most important habit you should learn. The wealthy do not become philanthropists solely for the sake of showing off as you may think. Giving is one of the oldest and most potent means of preserving your wealth. This dates back even to bible days. Indeed the bible says ‘the borrower is always subject to the lender’ – do you see? So many lessons by the bible also back up the principle of preserving wealth through giving. Don’t be mistaken, many who aren’t Christians also know this principle, You would do well to make your money have impact as of today, no matter how little.

So there you have it. We shall discuss more at a later time. For now, work on making this habits yours.
